GeneCards

  • NAME : GeneCards
  • URL : https://www.genecards.org/
  • DESCRIPTION : GeneCards is a searchable, integrative database that provides comprehensive, user-friendly information on all annotated and predicted human genes. The knowledgebase automatically integrates gene-centric data from ~200 web sources, including genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, genetic, clinical and functional information.

HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee

  • NAME : HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee
  • URL : https://www.genenames.org/
  • SHORT NAME : HGNC
  • FULL NAME : Human Genome Organisation Gene Nomenclature Committee
  • TITLE : Guidelines for human gene nomenclature
  • DOI : 10.1038/s41588-020-0669-3
  • ABSTRACT : Standardized gene naming is crucial for effective communication about genes, and as genomics becomes increasingly important in health care, the need for a consistent language to refer to human genes becomes ever more essential. Here, we present the current HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee (HGNC) guidelines for naming not only protein-coding genes but also RNA genes and pseudogenes, and we outline the changes in approach and ethos that have resulted from the discoveries of the past few decades.
